As I sit here reviewing a list of whiskeys at the tender hour of 11 AM on a Wednesday morning, I am thinking of Bosscat Kitchen & Libations. Whether it’s taking a whiskey flight from Japan to Islay or getting intimate with a hot plate of pork belly poutine, the refined yet laid back atmosphere wraps me in a warm comforting glow. Or maybe that’s the whiskey talking. For brunch, dinner, or private events, Bosscat has a lot on the menu in the way of good cooking and good drinks.
What’s in this?
Ever been curious about what makes your whiskey distinct? With a range of offerings from regions and distilleries around the world, Bosscat has a long list of different flavor profiles and styles of whiskey to satisfy every palette. If you want to learn more, why not try Whiskey Wednesday? Every other Wednesday, Bosscat hosts an evening dedicated to new or established distilleries, pairing whiskey flights with a chef-inspired course meal and a number of other exciting offers designed to show people the nuanced world of whiskey.
There’s also The Whiskey Room. The almost ominous, eponymous room is a beautiful wood-detailed space, with a wall of glass that belies the intimate environment, the real feature of this room is obvious– walls decked with a selection of rare and noteworthy whiskeys. The room is available for private whiskey tastings or whiskey dinners, attended by a spirits expert to help you explore new flavors and locations.
No empty stomachs
While whiskey and brew are some of the main features at Bosscat, they haven’t neglected the rest of their menu. With chefs encouraged to eat together and brainstorm new tastes, the menu is an eclectic blend of classic American comfort food and fresh new flavors. I hesitate to use the phrase “mouth-watering”, but with starters like Parmesan Crusted Meatloaf, which is essentially deep fried homestyle meatloaf and tomato bourbon jam, the temptation is very real. I’ll save you the salivation, but the rest of the menu is equally hunger-inducing.
If whiskey in the morning wasn’t bad enough, now it’s Sugar Barrel Steak with stout and caramelized onion gravy just before lunch. Okay, so maybe I won’t save you. But who likes to suffer alone? Bosscat doesn’t stop with appetizers and dinner – they’ve got a little something for those brunch fiends too. They were even featured in recent news for their “Fruity Pebbles” French Toast, but for my money it’s all about that Chorizo + Potato Benedict. I may not run in the mornings, but my eggs certainly will.

With menus for every time of day, Bosscat is a great spot to get your fix for some quality Houston fare. Head over for brunch, or drop in for an evening get together between you and a fine glass of whiskey.
